Isaac Street Public Housing
Completed 2006. Photographs to Come.
Public Housing on an old SEQEB site not far from the Paddington Hotel. A great but contentious opportunity. The neighbours were sceptical.
The design went through a few community reviews. "Friendly" drawings were needed to convey the qualities of the place and how it would connect, in many ways, with its context.
Eventually developed jointly by the Department of Housing and The Brisbane Housing Company (one of thier first projects). Despite the design iterations the reality is close to the original design intentions -something everyone could respect and enjoy.
