Bendeela Campground Master Plan 2012
The Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) provides recreational facilities near streams and water bodies it manages. These have been, traditionally, "primitive" camping grounds with basic amenities. Increased used has resulted in land degradation, management and safety concerns.
The Bendeela area, close to Kangaroo Valley in the Highlands south-west of Sydney has 400 camp sites available with a possible temporary population of up to 4000 people. Here the management concerns are acute.
The SCA engaged Tony Charters and Associates (TCA) to develop a land and management Master Plan for the site. Gall Architects are part of the team, with a role in landscape and facilities design, including locations and layouts of Camping Areas, Our role also included providing sustainable development options. Gall architects also produced graphics for commuication of the project to the Client group and the community (but we can't show you the graphics here).
